History

The true Steyr M9-A1 was the final product in the company's M series unveiled in early 1999. The M9-A1 was seen as a direct competitor to similar market handguns such as the Glock.

In fact, the Steyr M9-A1 is the brainchild of former Glock employee Wilhelm Bubits. As an amateur shooter and policeman, Bubits got into gun design so he could create what he considered the perfect gun.

Working for Steyr in conjunction with engineer Fridrich Aigner, Steyr's M9-A1 semi-automatic pistol was born.
